Why Orthotics?
Your feet are your base. When you stand or move, they help protect your spine, bones, and soft tissues from damaging stress.
Custom orthotics allow the bones and joints to align properly from the ground up, improving balance, reducing pain, and preventing injuries.
- Do you stand or walk on hard surfaces for more than 4 hours each day?
- Do you participate in a sport or exercise regularly?
- Are you aged thirty or over?
- Have you ever had neck, back, leg, knee or ankle pain while standing, sitting, walking, or running?
- Do your shoes wear unevenly?
- Is one of your legs shorter than the other?
- Do you have knock knees or bow legs?
- Do you have obvious foot problems such as bunions, corns or flat feet?
- Do your feet turn outward or inward when you are walking?
If you said yes to any of the above, contact DanceFeet to see if custom-made foot orthotics can improve your well-being.
For Dancers
As dancers, we spend much time in studios and social dancing. We pound the ground repetitively with precise steps, hops, lunges, and at times we even have to carry the weight of our partners. Imagine the pressure that is applied to the joints in our body? As dancers, being grounded or light on our feet is related to both technique and the anatomy of our feet.
Do your feet, ankles, legs, lower back feel sore? Achy? Tired?
Are you getting callouses or blisters?
Do you feel unbalanced and not centered?
DanceFeet orthotics will provide you with proper alignment, from the ground up.

What's involved in getting orthotics?
What are custom orthotics?
DanceFeet starts with an assessment that includes examining your biomechanics, discussing your needs, history of injuries and lifestyle. An analysis of your gait and a digital model of your feet is then taken. This assessment is done by a trained healthcare professional.
In the lab, durable orthotic materials are selected based on your biomechanics and your need for correction and moulded to the digital model of your foot. The finished orthotic can be further fine-tuned if needed.
Custom orthotics are corrective devices that assist feet in working as they should. They help to control abnormal foot function, balance weight properly and improve biomechanics. They are generally worn inside regular shoes.
Who can benefit from orthotics?
Book an assessment or try our Orthotics Quizto see if you can benefit from orthotics. If you have biomechanical imbalances or are straining your feet, orthotics may address the sources of your current pain and help prevent future pain and damage.
Does OHIP or insurance cover orthotics?
Custom orthotics are not covered by OHIP but are often covered under your work health insurance or extended health plan. Social assistance or Family Benefits also covers orthotics in most cases.
